Rain beats down as you load the car, you quickly throw the last bag on the cargo carrier, and strap it all down. A few final clicks of the ratchet straps and you’re off.
A knot in your stomach on the highway, unsure if you tightened everything down enough. You go back and forth in your head, but eventually pull over. One or two have loosened some, but everything is still there.
“I’m hungry,” on repeat from the back seat. You knew you shouldn’t have put all your snacks in the cooler, currently strapped under the pile of bags you just resecured.
This is silly. You shouldn’t be worrying about whether your bags and cooler are secure. You shouldn’t have to fast for your drive because your cooler is rendered inaccessible, either under all the bags in the trunk, or strapped down on the cargo carrier.
A system that doesn’t need straps, tie downs, bungees or cargo nets. Frees up the trunk. Keeps the cooler usable. Bring the dog.
That is what I’m building. Because you shouldn’t have to know climbing knots to take gear on the road. You should be able to reliably load up in a few minutes and know that your load is secure, weathertight, and easy to get to.
The RTG System. Go more, pack less.
